Deterioration of strawberry fields

Let´s talk about de difference between fame and pretige. Fame is recognition that does not depend on skills or judgment of value, it comes from public exposure that the greater it is, the more effect it will have.

As fame is a phenomenom devoid of value judgment, it comes indiscriminately. Fame highlights what is exposed without necessarily being linked to admiration or steem. That is why there is a complex strategy of exposing personality with behaviors that provoke public reaction. Meaning of the word fame: condition of what is very publicly known.

Examples of this strategy are:

Madonna and her gay kiss with Britney Spears and Cristina Aguilera at the MTV Awards
Lady Gaga’s costume, always very bewildering.
Rihanna’s costume, always very sexualized.
Something that many singers imitate to get the same amount of attention, like Anitta in the photo above.

Now let’s talk about what it means Prestige.

The meaning of the word prestige is personal superiority or influence based on sucess or worth and accepted by the majority. Prestige can only be achieved by recognizing undeniable qualities, with clear results and excellent performance. It is recognition of that individual’s exceptional talent.

Some examples of this are:

Alicia Keys, who won 5 Grammys with her first album, currently the singer does not use makeup as a form of self-expression.
Billie Eilish, singer who since the beginning of her career has received 73 awards, including 7 Grammys. The singer wears baggy clothes to avoid being sexualized.
Adele, in 2012, was considered by Chris Molanphy of Rolling Stone as the “Queen of Pop”, the singer has sixteen awards received at the Grammy Awards.

Adele is the first artist since the Beatles to have two songs and two albums in the top 5 British simultaneosly. And speaking of the Beatles…

The Beatles are recognized as the best and most successful group of the rock era.

It is now that we come to comparison that gives meaning to the subtitle of this text. The Beatles hava a song called Strawberry fields forever, this song is from the 1967 album Magical Mistery Tour which was a critical and public success and was nominated for a Grammy.

If you are aware of the latest song release that is called Campo de morango (strawberry field), you know that it is a song by Luísa Sonza that has very little to add in a lyrical or poetic narrative.

Bits of the video clip of Luisa Sonza’s song.

It is clear that Luísa is using an artistic reference and turning it into a shock strategy to leverage her carrer, as many others have done. She deserves a clap in the back for being so bold, but also she deserves to be booed for this grotesque narrative made to cause a public stir.

When you are not talented anough that isn’t much of a choice between being infamous or pretigious, you have to settle for the first one.

But some people use fame as a strategy to be able to showcase their talents and become prestigious.

The question is whether Luísa is talented enough to move from fame to prestige. I don’t know if after this work of questinable taste this would be possible for her. Her strawberry fields are rotting, although being rotten is some king of style.
